The execution is where things get complicated. As a first-person action RPG with a small single-player campaign, Deep Space covers the basics: move through environments, locate enemies, destroy them, move on. Planet-to-planet exploration gives the structure some shape, and for the first twenty minutes there is a genuine spark of lo-fi sci-fi atmosphere, the kind you find in Steam games made by solo or tiny teams who clearly love the genre they are working in. The mech suit framing adds a little weight to the fantasy. But the campaign is brief, and the moment-to-moment shooting loop does not have quite enough texture to sustain even that short runtime.
