For patient explorers willing to forgive rough edges in exchange for a weird, low-key mystery.

About Debtor
I went in blind on Debtor expecting either horror or a trippy narrative experience, and what I got was a modest action-adventure that leans heavily into exploration and environmental storytelling. You're a debtor who regains consciousness in a strange, dreamlike location, and the game trusts you to piece together what's happened through wandering and interacting with the world around you. There's combat when it shows up, but it's straightforward; the real appeal is the slow-burn mystery and the oddball atmosphere. The production values scream low-budget indie, which is fine if you're okay with basic visuals and no voice acting. What hurts more is that the pacing can drag, and the story payoff doesn't always justify the quieter stretches. If you're hunting for a weird, contemplative adventure with no hand-holding, Debtor might scratch that itch. Just don't expect polish or a narrative knockout.
