Compare Deadzone Rogue 2 prices across 50+ stores and find the best deal. Developed by Prophecy Games. Published by Prophecy Games. Available on PC, Xbox. Genres: Action.

The first game earned its 'Very Positive' badge the hard way. The sequel is asking you to trust that Prophecy Games can do it again on a bigger stage, with drop-in co-op and a fallen Earth to shoot through.

I went into Deadzone Rogue 2 already knowing the pedigree, and that context matters. The original earned an 86% Very Positive rating on Steam from over 14,000 reviews and pulled in more than 750,000 players across PC, Xbox, and other platforms. That is not a fluke number. It means a sequel carries real weight, and Prophecy Games appears to know it. The formula carries over with deliberate intent. You play Talon 13-10, this time fighting through a fallen Earth rather than the corridors of the ISS-X. The run structure is unchanged at its core: push through rooms, loot weapons, layer augments and elemental affinities onto a build, die, come back stronger via the Neural Lattice permanent upgrade system. What the original got right was the build-crafting loop. Elemental effects link across your entire loadout, so stacking shock on your rifle also feeds into your grenades and armor perks. That tight interconnection made every pickup feel like it mattered in the first game, and the sequel promises expanded progression with more imprints, resonances, and run modifiers on top of that foundation. The biggest mechanical addition is drop-in co-op for up to three players, with no lobbies and no friction. That was the loudest community request coming out of the original, and Prophecy Games has addressed it directly. The first game's co-op was functional but required pre-planning; the sequel aims to let you jump into a friend's active run mid-session. For a genre where momentum is everything, that design choice has the potential to meaningfully change the social texture of the game. Cross-platform play is confirmed across PC and Xbox, which matters when your friends are spread across storefronts. The concerns worth flagging going in are inherited from the first entry. Room geometry repetition was the most consistent criticism levelled at the original. Early zones felt visually samey, with corridors and layouts cycling fast enough to cause fatigue over long sessions. The sequel's new biomes and set pieces are a direct response to that, but until the full release lands and players log real hours, it is a promise not yet verified. Enemy AI in the first game was also noted as corridor-exploitable at lower difficulties, with the harder modes tuned more toward co-op than solo. If you are coming in as a solo-only player, manage expectations on Hard and above until community reports come in. On the performance side, the original ran cleanly at 60fps on mid-range PC hardware. That baseline was one of the quietly underrated things about it, and there is no reason to expect the sequel to regress there given Prophecy Games' track record. No ranked mode or competitive PvP exists here, so netcode scrutiny will land on co-op latency rather than lobbies. A demo is expected before launch, and for anyone on the fence about build-depth or feel, that is the right move before committing. Deadzone Rogue 2 is a wishlisted sequel with a clear design brief: take what worked, widen the world, and fix the two things people complained about. Whether it sticks that landing is a launch-day question. But the first game earned the benefit of the doubt, and the structural additions here are exactly the right ones to address. Fred, Scout Team
