Dismemberment is still the rule here, and Awakened leans on it harder than the campaign did: enemies come at you in tighter corridors with less room to line up a clean limb shot, so the crafting bench and whatever weapon you welded together matter more than your aim. This is add-on content for Dead Space™ 3, so you need the base game installed to touch it. It picks up right after the ending, keeps two-player online co-op intact, and adds its own set of Steam achievements. What you're buying is a short story chapter, not a new mode. If you rolled credits and wanted one more grim run with a build you already like, it delivers exactly that. If you bounced off Dead Space 3's shooter-forward direction, nothing in here converts you, and you can skip it without missing anything you'd care about.
