About Dead by Daylight: Resident Evil: PROJECT W Chapter (DLC)
Dead by Daylight's PROJECT W Chapter is a Resident Evil crossover DLC that drops Albert Wesker into the 4v1 asymmetric survival horror formula as a new killer. If you've played DBD before, you know the deal: one killer hunts four survivors across procedurally assembled maps while survivors repair generators and try to escape. PROJECT W adds Wesker to that roster alongside new survivor content pulled from the RE universe, making it a fan-service package aimed squarely at people who have loved at least one of these two franchises. Wesker's kit is the real selling point here. His power, Virulent Bound, lets him charge forward and grab a survivor, infecting them with Uroboros. Infected survivors gradually fill a contamination meter, and at full contamination they get put into a deep wound state faster than normal. It rewards aggressive, chase-heavy play and feels distinct enough from the existing killer roster to justify his slot. His lunge covers serious ground, which means inexperienced survivors who try to run in straight lines will get punished hard. He's not the most complex killer mechanically, but he has a high-pressure style that makes matches feel tense for both sides. The survivor content included - Ada Wong and Rebecca Chambers - gives Resident Evil fans more reason to buy in beyond just the killer. Each comes with their own cosmetics and perks that slot into the broader DBD build ecosystem. Ada's perks lean into information and deception, which fits her character well. Rebecca's are more support-oriented. Neither set is flashy enough to shake up the meta on its own, but they're solid additions if you run survivor regularly and want fresh perk options to experiment with. What doesn't land as well is the value question for players who are already DBD-fatigued. This is a DLC in a live-service game with years of content behind it. If your friends have drifted away from DBD or you never got into the base game's loop, a single chapter isn't going to change that. Wesker is a strong killer, but DBD's balance constantly shifts with patches, and his relative power in the meta will move around over time. Buy this for the characters and the playstyle, not because you think he'll be dominant forever. For who this is actually for: Resident Evil fans who dip into DBD casually will get the most out of it. Longtime DBD players who want a mobile, infection-based killer with recognizable lore behind him will also find it worthwhile. It's a focused, competent chapter that does what DBD chapters are supposed to do - add a distinct killer, give survivors new toys, and generate a few weeks of "finally" energy for the fanbase.
