Pinhead finally arrived in Dead by Daylight, and he plays nothing like the knife-and-run slashers you already know. If you want one of the genre's most iconic figures done right, this chapter delivers something genuinely different.

My first hours with the Hellraiser Chapter kept reminding me that Pinhead was never a simple monster. He barely moves in the source material, and Behaviour Interactive took that challenge seriously rather than just reskinning another M1-spam killer. The result is the Cenobite, a summoning-focused killer who operates on a completely different logic from most of the roster. The core of his kit is a two-part pressure system. His Summons of Pain ability lets you conjure a gateway up to 16 metres away, then guide a Possessed Chain toward a survivor to bind them. Land three chains and the target can barely sprint, let alone loop you. But the Lament Configuration is where things get interesting: a puzzle box that spawns on the map and constantly threatens a Chain Hunt if nobody picks it up. If survivors solve it, they defer the hunt but expose themselves to Pinhead's teleport. If he picks it up himself, every survivor screams and reveals their location simultaneously. It creates a constant tug-of-war side objective that neither side can fully ignore, which is a design trick most DLC killers don't manage. The cost is steep on the learning curve. The Cenobite is rated Very Hard by the developers, and that rating is honest. Aiming the Possessed Chain takes real practice since chains have travel time and break against walls, so you need to lead your shots and read survivor movement patterns. His three perks, Deadlock, Hex: Plaything, and Scourge Hook: Gift of Pain, are all genuinely useful rather than padding, but stacking them effectively with his power requires a solid understanding of how to keep Chain Hunt running while staying in chases. New killer players will struggle hard here. One legitimate friction point that the community noted on release was that survivors could sometimes defuse Chain Hunt more easily than intended, undercutting the threat. Behaviour has patched the kit several times since launch, and a later update even brought back expanded voice lines recorded by Doug Bradley, the original Hellraiser actor. The character polish is real. The balance has bounced around, but the current state sits in a workable place for players willing to invest the time. One critical thing to know before purchasing: this chapter was delisted from storefronts in April 2025 when the Hellraiser license expired. If you are seeing a key available for sale now, it is a third-party key from before delisting. The character remains fully playable if you own the key, but no new cosmetics or updates are coming for this chapter. Buy it for what it is, not what it might become. Alex, Scout Team
