Darkness Within 2: The Dark Lineage

I spent a few hours with Darkness Within 2 expecting standard adventure-game puzzle-solving, but what I found was something quieter and more unsettling. You're Howard Loreid again, a cop unraveling his own connection to the supernatural horrors closing in on him. The game builds atmosphere through sound design and shadowy visuals rather than cheap frights, exploration feels deliberate, almost meditative, and each puzzle reveals something darker about Howard's lineage. It's a slow burn that won't appeal to action players, and the inventory-heavy adventure format can feel dated. But if you're someone who appreciates horror that trusts mood over spectacle, and you don't mind adventure games that linger on a scene, there's genuine craft here. The story fumbles occasionally, and the pacing drags in stretches, but it knows exactly what kind of game it is.
