Dark Thrones
A Nintendo platformer that swaps the cheerful Mushroom Kingdom for gothic castles and pixel-art darkness, but can't quite decide if it wants to be challenging or forgiving.
GamerScout Verdict
A decent gothic platformer for fans of darker aesthetics, but uneven pacing and repetitive level design hold it back from being truly worthwhile.

About Dark Thrones
Dark Thrones is a side-scrolling platformer for Nintendo that trades Nintendo's usual bright palette for a darker medieval aesthetic. You'll navigate spike-laden castle corridors, fight skeletal enemies, and solve light environmental puzzles across a handful of levels. The pixel art is clean and moody, and the core jump-and-attack loop is responsive enough to feel satisfying when it clicks. The problem is pacing. Levels drag on without much variation, and the difficulty curve feels arbitrary - some sections punish you for a single mistake, while others feel padded with collectibles that don't justify the backtracking. If you're looking for a spooky alternative to Mario that respects your time, this isn't it. If you want a bite-sized platformer with a gothic vibe and low expectations, you might find an hour or two here.
