GamerScout Verdict
A love letter to '90s FPS design that coasts on style but can't hide its mechanical roughness.

About Cyber Utopia
Cyber Utopia wears its throwback inspiration on its sleeve: pixelated sprites, chunky gun models, and a synth-drenched future setting that's more pastiche than world-building. It's a first-person shooter set in a distant future where humanity has merged with technology, and you're stuck fighting through corridors of cyborgs and robots with weapons that feel appropriately crude. The retro angle is fun for about twenty minutes, and there's a certain charm to how earnestly it commits to the bit. The problem is that nostalgia alone doesn't carry a 2017 game made by a small studio. The level design is repetitive, enemy variety is thin, and the gunplay lacks the snappy feedback that made classic FPS titles actually click. If you're chasing that specific hit of '90s shooter vibes and don't mind rough edges, you might squeeze some fun out of it. Everyone else should look elsewhere.
