About Cryptid
I went in expecting another cheap found-footage gimmick, but Cryptid commits to the bit. You're playing through body cam footage of a hunter tracking something in the dark, and the game nails the claustrophobia of that single-perspective constraint. Audio design carries most of the weight here, which works in its favor, since a quiet forest suddenly isn't quiet anymore. It's deliberately brief, which is its biggest strength. The pacing doesn't outstay its welcome, and the tension peaks before repetition sets in. There's not much mechanical depth, but that's not what this is trying to do. If you want an unsettling 30-minute experience that doesn't pretend to be something it's not, this lands the shot.
