The first hour is where this one loses most people, and I understand why. Placing a gear or a conveyor should be a two-second action, and here it is a fight with snapping points, a cramped parts tray, and a camera that never quite frames the contraption you are building. Nothing explains why a component refuses to seat where you want it. That friction is the reason the Steam score sits where it does, and it is a fair complaint rather than a case of players being impatient. Push through it, though, and the underlying physics model turns out to be the good part. Chain reactions behave consistently, so once you understand why a belt stalls or a weight overshoots, you can actually plan a solve instead of shotgunning parts and hoping. That makes it a narrow recommendation. If you enjoy iterating on a failed run, tweaking one variable, and watching the whole Rube Goldberg chain finally click, the level editor and leaderboards give you somewhere to put that energy in short twenty-minute sittings. If you want a puzzle game that teaches you its own tools, this released in 2014 without that courtesy and never fixed it. Know which of those two players you are before committing.
