Grab this for yourself and rope in a friend at no extra cost - it's the kind of low-stakes online sandbox racer that's genuinely hard to hate at its price point.

I picked this up mainly because the buy-one-gift-one deal made me feel like the game was paying me to introduce a friend to it, and honestly that's the right spirit to bring into Crash Drive 2. The loop is simple by design: drop into one of four open-world maps, fling your vehicle off ramps and loop-the-loops, collect coins and rings scattered across the terrain, and wait for a random event to fire. Those events rotate through six modes - Race, Coin Collect, King of the Crown, Tag, Stunt, and Find the Ring - and they trigger automatically every couple of minutes so the session never goes fully idle. It's not deep. That's the point. The vehicle roster is where the game earns its goodwill. There are 35 unlockable cars, buses, monster trucks and muscle cars, each with four stats you level up through actual use - burn your nitro to raise the nitro ceiling, hit top speed to push that stat higher. It's a light RPG layer that gives you a reason to keep playing beyond the next event timer. The Tank Battle mode sits as a separate arena-brawler where five unique tanks try to knock each other off a sky platform, with bonus points for multi-kills and air shots. Offline, AI bots fill empty slots, so the mode is never dead regardless of server population. Cross-platform play links your lobby to mobile players, which in practice means you'll almost always find opponents. The Steam version has a real advantage over the free mobile build: no ads, no microtransactions, a 200,000-coin starting boost, and a dedicated extra copy to gift. Controller support is solid and the game asks nothing demanding from your hardware, so it runs on basically any PC from the last decade without a second thought. The graphics are dated - this started life as a tablet game and that heritage shows in sparse textures and empty-feeling map corners - but the physics lean into cartoonish absurdity on purpose. Watching a bus climb a sheer vertical cliff without losing momentum never stops being funny. Crashes lack weight and the audio is thin, but the moment-to-moment silliness compensates for most of it. Where it loses me is couch multiplayer: there is none. No split-screen, no local co-op. For a game whose entire personality is "goof off with a friend", routing everything through online-only sessions is a missed opportunity that the community has been asking about since launch. The gift copy deal partially papers over this - if both you and your friend own it you can share a lobby - but you'll need two separate PCs running. Depth-seekers will also hit a ceiling fast; the gameplay loop is intentionally the same session in, session out, and once you've seen all six events there's no mechanical twist waiting behind them. For the right crowd - people who want something low-commitment to queue up between longer sessions, or a shared online thing to fling at a friend - Crash Drive 2 punches above the embarrassment of its origins. It won't eat your weekend, but it doesn't pretend it will. Riley, Scout Team

Best for casual online sessions with a friend you can gift a copy to - just don't expect split-screen or long-term depth.
