Compare Cortex prices across trusted key stores and find the best deal. Developed by Milan Toth. Published by Milan Toth. Released on 12/28/2018. Available on PC, Mac, Linux. Genres: Action.

A twitchy psychedelic tunnel-runner that asks for reflexes and tolerance for strobing color, then hands back a tight arcade loop and not much else.

Cortex wants your reflexes and your patience with sensory overload before it gives you anything. It is a tunnel-runner in the purest arcade sense: you steer down a corridor of shifting geometry, dodge what the pattern throws at you, and try to hold your line while the color palette melts around you. Milan Toth built and published it solo, and it plays like a solo project in the good way, one idea executed with commitment rather than a feature list padded out for a store page. What works is the feel. When the visuals and the speed sync up, the tunnel becomes a rhythm you read rather than a track you memorize, and the singleplayer runs get genuinely hypnotic. What does not work is everything around that core. There is no meaningful progression, no multiplayer, no reason to come back once the loop stops surprising you, and the psychedelic effects are aggressive enough that anyone sensitive to flashing patterns should skip it outright. Treat it as a short, cheap arcade curiosity, not a game you settle into. Alex, Scout Team

GamerScout Verdict

Worth a look if you want a 20-minute hypnotic arcade run; skip it if you need progression or are flash-sensitive.

Every store in this table quotes us in euros, so the EUR figure is the price the seller actually set, not our arithmetic — which is why EUR is also the currency we rank in. We only list an offer here when the store gives us its price in euros, so nothing in this table is a number we invented.

Pick USD, PLN, GBP, CAD or AUD in the header and we convert from EUR at the European Central Bank reference rate — converted amounts are prefixed with ~. Your bank or the store may apply a different rate at checkout. We never hide offers based on where you are: everyone sees this whole table.

We may earn a commission when you buy games through links on this page — at no extra cost to you. It never affects our rankings or verdicts.
