CONTRACTED

I picked up Contracted expecting a stylish action romp, and what I found is a budget shooter that knows exactly what it is: lean, straightforward, and committed to the splatter. You're clearing contaminated zones of infected enemies across camps, caves, and other forgettable backdrops. The gunplay is functional rather than satisfying, but the gore effects do the heavy lifting visually. Controller support is solid, which helps mask the clunky feel. Trading cards suggest the developers hoped for community legs, but the game quietly disappeared after launch. This isn't a hidden gem or a "so-bad-it's-good" cult classic. It's a B-tier action game from 2017 that did its job and moved on. If you're hunting for pure violent catharsis on a shoestring budget with zero pretense, Contracted will scratch that itch for a couple hours. Anyone looking for mechanical depth or memorable level design should look elsewhere.
