Cities in Motion: German Cities
A decade-spanning German transit campaign that feels more like homework than Cities in Motion's robust sandbox mode.
GamerScout Verdict
For completionists and base-game veterans only; the campaign structure limits the sandbox freedom that makes transit sims compelling.

Every store in this table quotes us in euros, so the EUR figure is the price the seller actually set, not our arithmetic — which is why EUR is also the currency we rank in. We only list an offer here when the store gives us its price in euros, so nothing in this table is a number we invented.
Pick USD, PLN, GBP, CAD or AUD in the header and we convert from EUR at the European Central Bank reference rate — converted amounts are prefixed with ~. Your bank or the store may apply a different rate at checkout. We never hide offers based on where you are: everyone sees this whole table.
We may earn a commission when you buy games through links on this page — at no extra cost to you. It never affects our rankings or verdicts.

About Cities in Motion: German Cities
I'll be direct: German Cities is a scenario pack for the 2010 original, not a standalone game. It chains you through four campaigns set between the 1920s and 2020s, each one a rigid tutorial dressed up as historical roleplay. If you own Cities in Motion and want structured, goal-driven gameplay instead of free-form city building, this scratches that itch. The ten-decade arc is a decent idea on paper, but the scenarios lock down your decision-making in ways that undercut what makes transit sims rewarding: experimentation and route optimization at your own pace. The core Cities in Motion engine is solid for its era, but German Cities adds almost nothing new mechanically. You're managing buses, trams, and metro lines across recognizable German cities, which has charm, but the campaign structure feels like busywork compared to the sandbox's open-ended potential. Skip this unless you've exhausted the base game and want more directed content. It's not a bad expansion, just a thin one.
