A meditative corner of Steam that most people walk past without looking - and that would be their loss. If slow brushwork, classical Chinese landscapes, and a canvas that asks nothing of you but curiosity sound appealing, this one quietly earns its place.

I have a soft spot for the tiny Steam page that nobody covers, the kind with eleven reviews and a hand-drawn thumbnail that looks like it came from someone's sketchbook rather than a marketing department. This is one of those. Unico Game Studio - apparently a solo or very small outfit - shipped a dual-mode experience built entirely around Chinese ink painting: a puzzle side and a free-form creation side, and the combination is more thoughtful than you would expect at this price point. The puzzle mode works as a kind of structured introduction to the art form. You are reassembling traditional ink compositions from their component parts, learning through play how these scenes are constructed - where the rocks sit, how pavilions and water interact, where a poet's inscription might rest in the negative space. It is not a demanding brain-teaser in the vein of a logic puzzle game. The difficulty is mild, the pacing unhurried. Think of it as a guided tour through classical composition rather than a challenge ladder. If you arrive wanting a stern mental workout, you will leave unsatisfied. Where the game stretches its legs is the creation mode. There are roughly 400 unlockable elements sorted into categories: rock, animal, tree, water, pavilion, insect, bridge and boat, character, backgrounds, and poetry. You unlock elements by progressing through the puzzles, then drag and layer them onto a canvas to compose your own ink painting. The results can look genuinely lovely if you have a feel for negative space and compositional balance - the aesthetic language the mode teaches you, quietly, through the puzzle side. Finished works can be exported via a share code, sent to a friend who can then load and continue editing them, or posted to the Steam Workshop. The developer even posted plans back in 2018 for a large mythological DLC pack sourcing elements from classical Chinese texts, which suggests the ambition was real even if the community never grew large enough to demand it. The friction is real and worth naming. Workshop integration has some rough edges: players have reported access errors when trying to open other users' creations, element categories occasionally disappearing from the creation panel after unlocking certain items, and puzzle-piece sizing that requires manual adjustment rather than auto-fitting to the canvas. These are the kinds of bugs that a larger studio would patch in a week. For a micro-project that has been sitting largely unchanged since 2018, they are unlikely to ever be fixed. The audience for this is patient people who can work around the occasional oddity without filing a ticket. For what it is - a quiet, almost contemplative curiosity piece rooted in a genuine love for ink painting tradition - it sits in a category entirely its own on Steam. There is nothing cynical here, no grind loop, no manufactured tension. The soundtrack (soft and sparse, as it should be) carries the mood well. If you are drawn to found art, cultural craft games, or just want something on screen that has the energy of a rainy afternoon at a museum, this one rewards the look. Kai, Scout Team
