About Cardpocalypse: Time Warp Edition
The mechanic that rewired how I play here is card modification: you stick a new rule onto a creature and that card stays changed for the rest of the campaign. Deckbuilding stops being about drafting the strongest card and starts being about living with the ones you already bent out of shape. Gambrinous wraps that around a 90s schoolyard story, where Jess talks and trades her way between playground factions while the fiction feeds the systems. Friendships hand you cards, adults confiscate them, and house rules shift under you mid-match. The RPG half is where my patience thinned. Quests lean on fetch-and-fetch-again structure, the difficulty stays gentle enough that two good combos carry you for hours, and the story wraps just as the deck options open up. The Time Warp Edition content helps, but this is still a compact, charming afternoon rather than a build-variety marathon. Play it for the writing and the sticker system, not for a 40-hour arc.
