Essential for fighting game completists; everyone else should check reviews for which volume suits them first.

About Capcom Fighting Collection 1 + 2
I went in expecting a curated greatest-hits lineup, and Capcom delivered that much: Street Fighter II variants, Darkstalkers, Red Earth, and deep cuts most casual players have never heard of. The emulation is clean, online play works, and there's genuine historical value here. The problem is presentation. These are ROM dumps with minimal modernization, no rollback netcode across the board, dated UI, and zero tutorials that'd actually teach a newcomer why these games matter. You're buying arcade authenticity, which is great if you already know what you're buying into. It's hard to recommend to anyone except hardcore fighting game historians willing to pay AAA money for a collection. Everyone else should wait for sales or consider whether you actually need both volumes at once.
