Call of Duty: Black Ops 7
Stellar multiplayer and a legitimately fun Zombies suite are buried under one of the worst campaigns the series has produced, and a 38% positive Steam score tells you the fanbase noticed.
GamerScout Verdict
Worth it for Zombies diehards and multiplayer grinders, but solo campaign players should look elsewhere entirely.

Every store in this table quotes us in euros, so the EUR figure is the price the seller actually set, not our arithmetic — which is why EUR is also the currency we rank in. We only list an offer here when the store gives us its price in euros, so nothing in this table is a number we invented.
Pick USD, PLN, GBP, CAD or AUD in the header and we convert from EUR at the European Central Bank reference rate — converted amounts are prefixed with ~. Your bank or the store may apply a different rate at checkout. We never hide offers based on where you are: everyone sees this whole table.

About Call of Duty: Black Ops 7
I went in hoping Black Ops 7 had learned from its predecessor's strengths. Two hours into the co-op campaign, I was already convinced it hadn't. The switch from a traditional single-player story to an online-only cooperative structure sounds bold on paper, but the execution is a tangle of frustrating compromises: no AI fill-ins if your lobby is short, no pausing, and objectives clearly designed for a full squad that punish anyone trying to run it solo. Missions cycle through reused assets and hallucinogenic set-pieces enabled by mind-linking technology that gives the developers license to drop in anything, anytime, often from older Call of Duty titles. The result feels less like a Black Ops campaign and more like a service-game content drop dressed up with a thin story about returning hero David Mason chasing a ghost signal in the near-future city-state of Avalon. Critics have called it one of the worst campaigns in the franchise's history, and that is not hyperbole. Here is the thing though: the multiplayer and Zombies package is genuinely good, and that split is what makes Black Ops 7 so aggravating to evaluate. Sixteen 6v6 maps and two large 20v20 Skirmish maps give you a wide canvas to work with at launch. Standout returning maps like Express, Hijacked, and Raid - remakes from Black Ops 2 - hold up well, and new additions like Homestead bring fresh visual flair. The Overclock system layers meaningful customization over Lethals, Tacticals, Field Upgrades, and Scorestreaks. Add the Wingsuit for aerial traversal in Skirmish and the new Overload mode, and there is a sharp, kinetic gunfight experience here if you can stomach the bloated UI hub to reach it. Weapon Prestige returns for the first time since 2018, and the new Build Code sharing feature for weapon loadouts is a practical quality-of-life win for squad play. Zombies is where the game earns its keep most consistently. Ashes of the Damned is a large, multi-region map with hidden paths, mini-boss encounters, environmental puzzles, and a Dark Aether story that merges the Black Ops 6 crew with alternate versions of classic characters like Richtofen and Dempsey. Sub-modes give you real variety: Cursed mode layers difficulty-escalating Relics for veterans, Rogue Run applies a roguelite randomization structure with permanent upgrade progression, Survival Maps strip things back to a focused endurance format, and Dead Ops Arcade 4 returns after five years as a full twin-stick arcade shooter with 80 levels and over 20 arenas. GobbleGums, Ammo Mods, and Field Upgrades carry over into Dead Ops Arcade 4 as well, tying the whole Zombies suite together tighter than any previous entry. For players who log most of their hours in Zombies, this is arguably the richest the mode has ever been. The honest read on Black Ops 7 is that it is two different games packaged together and sold as one. The competitive and cooperative PvE sides of the product are doing well by most objective measures. The campaign - the thing that historically anchors the launch marketing and justifies the premium price point - is a structural mess that even dedicated fans have largely written off. The Mostly Negative Steam verdict reflects a playerbase that expected more given what Black Ops 6 delivered the year before, and the frustration is fair. If you play CoD exclusively for multiplayer grind and Zombies runs with a regular squad, there is more than enough content to justify the time investment. If you were hoping for a memorable story campaign or any kind of meaningful solo experience, this is not it.
