GamerScout Verdict
A forgettable Match 3 with decent art that doesn't justify the time investment over established alternatives.

About Button Tales
Button Tales is a Match 3 game that wanted to do something different. Instead of the standard swap-and-clear loop, it introduces what it calls innovation mechanics that supposedly give the genre fresh legs. The cute character designs and environment art are pleasant enough, and the music won't drive you up a wall, which is more than some casual games manage. The core loop is inoffensive. The problem is that innovation never quite clicks. The mechanics feel tacked on rather than integrated, and without meaningful progression systems or clever puzzle design to compensate, Button Tales fades into the background noise of the hundreds of Match 3 games out there. It's fine if you're desperate for a low-stakes puzzle game and don't mind forgettable, but there are better casual options that respect your time.
