About Broken Spectre
The moment that sold me was small: a photograph pinned to a tree, my father's handwriting on the back, and the realization that the trail I'd just walked did not look the same behind me. No monster, no chase, just the quiet certainty that the mountain was rearranging itself around me. That is the register Broken Spectre works in for most of its runtime, and when it lands it is genuinely excellent. You are climbing into remote wilderness after a man who vanished twenty five years ago, and the game leans on isolation, sound design, and eldritch implication rather than anything that lunges at the camera. Where it disappoints is length and interactivity. This is a narrative walking horror piece, so the verbs are mostly walk, look, and listen, and if you need mechanical friction you will feel the absence. The Director's Cut sharpens the presentation, but it cannot make the middle stretch less linear. Go in expecting an evening, not a campaign, and you will get a well-built one.
