Biotope
A water-chemistry sim with real teeth, wrapped in an Early Access shell that stopped updating before it grew into a game. Hobbyists only.
GamerScout Verdict
Worth it only if aquarium chemistry itself is the hobby you want simulated; everyone else runs out of game fast.
Compare Prices(3 stores)
Every store in this table quotes us in euros, so the EUR figure is the price the seller actually set, not our arithmetic — which is why EUR is also the currency we rank in. We only list an offer here when the store gives us its price in euros, so nothing in this table is a number we invented.
Pick USD, PLN, GBP, CAD or AUD in the header and we convert from EUR at the European Central Bank reference rate — converted amounts are prefixed with ~. Your bank or the store may apply a different rate at checkout. We never hide offers based on where you are: everyone sees this whole table.
We may earn a commission when you buy games through links on this page — at no extra cost to you. It never affects our rankings or verdicts.

About Biotope
The store page promises an aquarium ecosystem you actually manage: nitrogen cycle, pH drift, stocking limits, plant load. That part is real. Ammonia converts to nitrite converts to nitrate on a believable curve, overstock a tank and you will watch the numbers punish you three in-game days later, and the plant-versus-filtration balance is a genuine optimisation problem. If you keep real tanks, the chemistry model will hold your attention longer than the 42% positive score suggests. Where reality parts ways with the pitch is everything wrapped around that model. There is no campaign, no scenario ladder, no difficulty pressure past the first cycled tank, so the sandbox runs out of decisions once you have solved the maths. The build tools are thin, species variety is limited, and the Early Access label never resolved into a finished release. No mod scene picked up the slack either. What is here is a decent chemistry toy, not a sim with a late game.
