About Below the Surface: Assassin's Prison
The deduction board is the real thing here, and that alone justifies the runtime. Most small detective games hand you evidence and call the finding of it the puzzle. This one makes you link testimony to object to contradiction on a corkboard that refuses wrong connections without telling you why, so the reasoning has to happen in your head rather than in a checklist. Crime scenes are point-and-click, deliberately still, and the pacing trusts you to sit with a room longer than the genre usually allows. The cracks show fast. Text is stiff in places, art assets vary in confidence from scene to scene, and a couple of logical leaps land more on intuition than deduction. Six user reviews is not a community, it is a handful of people who found something and said so. But this is a two-person team shipping a genuinely clever mechanic and then stopping when the story was done, which is a discipline bigger studios never learn. Come for the board, forgive the edges, leave before it overstays.
