Behind You

I've spent time with Behind You, and what struck me most is how deliberately it respects tension over spectacle. You're trapped in a closed horror space with nothing but audio cues and your own restraint to keep you alive. The stealth is unforgiving - robots patrol, you hide, you listen for footsteps and mechanical whirs. There's no health bar softening the stakes; discovery means failure. It's a short experience, maybe an hour or two, but Pavel Bykau uses that time wisely. The soundscape does heavy lifting, and the pacing knows when to breathe and when to tighten the screws. This isn't a game for everyone. If you want action or combat, keep walking. But if you've felt the particular dread of holding your breath while something hunts nearby, if you appreciate a game that trusts silence as a tool, Behind You delivers exactly that. It's free, it's focused, and it knows its one good idea cold.
