Battlezone 98 Redux Odyssey Edition

Battlezone 98 Redux does something most strategy games won't attempt: lock you into a tank cockpit for real-time first-person firefights while your base churns out reinforcements in the background. You're managing economy, unit production, and map control simultaneously, but you're also the one pulling the trigger. It's strategy with reflexes wired in, which means newcomers need to respect the learning curve. That said, the mission design ramps sensibly, and the mod workshop extends the life indefinitely if the base campaign clicks. The online multiplayer works, though finding matches is... optimistic. Single-player campaign stays focused and punchy. AI holds up reasonably well for 2016 standards. If you want your RTS with a first-person adrenaline spike and you're willing to tolerate wonky pacing between action and base screens, this scratches an itch nothing else does.
