About Arcana Heart 3 LOVEMAX SIXSTARS!!!!!!
My first hour with this game was spent staring at a character-select screen I only half understood, and that is both its biggest obstacle and its core appeal. Arcana Heart 3 LOVEMAX SIXSTARS is a 2D fighting game built around two interlocking ideas that set it apart from most of the genre: a Homing mechanic that gives every character 360-degree aerial movement at no resource cost, and an Arcana system that lets you pair any fighter with one of nearly two dozen celestial spirits, each one reshaping that character's special attacks, stats, and movement options. Pick the Arcana of Magnetism and your charged attacks pull opponents in. Swap to the Arcana of Blood (Ichor, the SIXSTARS addition tied to new fighter Minori Amanohara) and the whole playstyle shifts again. The depth is real, and the community still actively finds new combinations at a competitive level. Combat is fast and heavily aerial. The tall vertical stages push fights upward rather than across a flat plane, which means air combos, air throws, and air dashes are not just options but the primary vocabulary of the game. The Force Gauge drives the resource economy: fill it, activate Extend Force to boost speed and alter your Arcana attacks, then spend everything on an Arcana Blaze or a Critical Heart for maximum damage. It feels fluid once it clicks, and the Simple Mode control option (one button each for normals, specials, Arcana moves, and Homing Dash) gives newcomers a genuine on-ramp without gutting the game for veterans. Here is where honesty is required, though. The game does almost nothing to teach you any of this. There is no in-game explanation of what each Arcana actually does, no recommendations for character pairings, and the tutorials that once existed in earlier versions were stripped out in this release. Players who want to understand their options beyond button-mashing will need to go looking at community guides or the Discord on their own time. The online player pool is also thin, which means finding live matches outside of coordinated sessions can be a grind. For a game whose depth rewards experimentation, the lack of in-built guidance is a meaningful friction point. Visually, the all-female cast is cute and the super-move animations have that HD anime polish, but the overall visual design shows the age of the original arcade build. Animations are not as fluid as more recent anime fighters from Arc System Works' own catalog. The soundtrack is serviceable but unremarkable. None of that is a dealbreaker for a game this mechanically interesting, but players coming from Guilty Gear Strive or Dragon Ball FighterZ should adjust their visual expectations. The XTEND update added two new stages and proper 16:9 widescreen support as a free patch, which cleaned up one of the bigger presentation complaints from launch. This one is for players who like digging. If the idea of mapping out 24 characters across nearly two dozen Arcana combinations and finding a pairing that genuinely clicks sounds fun rather than exhausting, SIXSTARS delivers on that premise better than almost anything else in the genre. Go in knowing the community is small and the game is not going to hold your hand, and you will find something mechanically distinctive that holds up well on its own terms. Alex, Scout Team
