Antagonist
A 2017 visual novel RPG where you play the villain working alongside the hero to expose corruption in a fictional game studio, oddly charming niche comedy that knows its premise is ridiculous.
GamerScout Verdict
A scrappy, self-aware joke that commits fully to its premise, perfect for indie comedy fans with low expectations and 2-3 hours to spare.

About Antagonist
Antagonist stakes everything on a single joke: what if the Dark Lord and the Hero of Light were just employees grinding through a cutscene factory? The premise is flimsy, but the game leans into it hard enough that the absurdity becomes its strongest asset. You'll partner with Ralph (the hero) to uncover corporate conspiracy while building relationship trees and triggering combo attacks, which is as weird as it sounds. It's short, deliberately indie, and not trying to be anything other than a throwaway comedy wrapped in RPG/VN mechanics. If you're hunting for experimental narrative games with bite-sized runtime and genuine laughs at the industry's own expense, this fits. Anyone expecting traditional visual novel pacing or deep character work should look elsewhere. For what it is, a scrappy parody with actual charm, it lands.
