Anno 117: Pax Romana
The Anno formula meets Rome: build cities, manage trade chains, and leverage economics or diplomacy to outmaneuver rivals across procedurally-seeded provinces.
GamerScout Verdict
For strategy players who want builder depth without the 500-hour commitment of a Paradox title.

Every store in this table quotes us in euros, so the EUR figure is the price the seller actually set, not our arithmetic — which is why EUR is also the currency we rank in. We only list an offer here when the store gives us its price in euros, so nothing in this table is a number we invented.
Pick USD, PLN, GBP, CAD or AUD in the header and we convert from EUR at the European Central Bank reference rate — converted amounts are prefixed with ~. Your bank or the store may apply a different rate at checkout. We never hide offers based on where you are: everyone sees this whole table.
We may earn a commission when you buy games through links on this page — at no extra cost to you. It never affects our rankings or verdicts.

About Anno 117: Pax Romana
I've logged enough hours in Paradox grand-strategy to know when a builder-sim actually respects your time. Anno 117 drops you into Roman expansion with three viable paths: economic dominance through trade networks, diplomatic influence via alliance trees, or the straightforward military route. The city-building is tight, supply chains matter, and late-game decisions about which provinces to develop ripple across your entire empire. What impresses me is the AI doesn't roll over; rival governors will exploit your trade weaknesses and mount coordinated defenses. The multiplayer modes (PvP and co-op) add replayability, though the real test is whether the single-player campaign teaches you systems without hand-holding. At launch, this feels like a solid 84 Metacritic execution: deep enough for strategy nerds, accessible enough for city-builders who've never touched a tech tree. The mod ecosystem will define its longevity, but Ubisoft's track record with the Anno series suggests post-launch support is likely.
