Compare Agony prices across trusted key stores and find the best deal. Developed by Art & Magic. Published by Psygnosis. Released on 5/29/2018. Available on PC, Xbox. Genres: Action, Adventure, Horror, Survival.

A walk through one of the most convincingly horrible visions of Hell in games, wrapped around stealth horror that keeps getting lost in its own mazes. Atmosphere carries it; little else does.

Outlast set the template for run-and-hide horror: no weapons, one weak light source, monsters that end you in seconds. Agony borrows that skeleton and drops it into Hell, and the difference that matters is the art direction. Its underworld (walls of writhing bodies, screaming architecture, guttering torchlight) is one of the most committed visions of damnation a game has attempted, and you play a lost soul who can possess the damned to get past what would otherwise kill you. Great idea on paper. In practice, you spend most of the runtime lost. Levels are dark mazes with vague objectives, the hide-and-hold-your-breath stealth is fussy, checkpoints are unkind, and possession never becomes the flexible tool it promises to be. The shock content leans hard on gore and nudity, and your tolerance for that decides almost everything about how this lands. Come for a nightmare art gallery you can walk through. Do not come expecting it to play anywhere near as well as it looks. Alex, Scout Team

GamerScout Verdict

For horror players who forgive clumsy design when the art is nightmarish enough; everyone else will bounce off the mazes.

Every store in this table quotes us in euros, so the EUR figure is the price the seller actually set, not our arithmetic — which is why EUR is also the currency we rank in. We only list an offer here when the store gives us its price in euros, so nothing in this table is a number we invented.

Pick USD, PLN, GBP, CAD or AUD in the header and we convert from EUR at the European Central Bank reference rate — converted amounts are prefixed with ~. Your bank or the store may apply a different rate at checkout. We never hide offers based on where you are: everyone sees this whole table.

We may earn a commission when you buy games through links on this page — at no extra cost to you. It never affects our rankings or verdicts.
