Vampire Survivors: Tides of the Foscari (DLC)

Vampire Survivors is, at its core, a game about watching numbers get bigger while a tiny sprite auto-attacks its way through biblical swarms of monsters. Tides of the Foscari is a DLC expansion that understands this completely and just... adds more of it, wrapped in a deliberately campy fantasy-on-fantasy aesthetic. There is a forest called Lake. There is a sword, an arrow, and something described only as "the magic." The self-aware absurdity is part of the charm, and poncle leans into it hard. The new stage - Lake Foscari - is the centerpiece here. It is a dense, winding forest environment with its own distinct visual identity, and it brings along a cast of classic RPG archetypes done in Vampire Survivors' signature tongue-in-cheek style. You get a fighter, a mage, and a thief, each with their own starting weapons and passive stat profiles that meaningfully change how the first few minutes of a run feel. If you have spent any time theory-crafting builds in the base game, you will immediately start doing the math on how the new weapons slot into evolved combinations. That itch is well-served here. On the gameplay side, Tides of the Foscari follows the same rhythm that makes Vampire Survivors so compulsive: 30-minute survival sessions, escalating enemy density, weapon evolutions gated behind item pairings, and a slow drip of permanent meta-progression unlocks. The new weapons fit cleanly into that framework without reinventing it. If you were hoping for a dramatic mechanical shake-up, this DLC is not that. It is more Vampire Survivors - competently executed, reliably fun, and probably going to eat another few hours before you notice. The honest limitation worth flagging is that the narrative depth here is basically decorative. There is lore, there are character backstories hinted at in item descriptions and unlock text, but if you came expecting the writing to reward re-reads the way a proper RPG would, you will be mildly disappointed. The "RPG" genre tag on this DLC is doing heavy lifting that the actual content does not fully support. The worldbuilding is vibes-first, substance-light - which is fine for what Vampire Survivors is, just do not expect Foscari family drama to hit like act two of Baldur's Gate. For players who have already put serious time into the base game and the first DLC, Tides of the Foscari is a solid reason to come back. New characters with distinct build identities, a new stage with its own enemy roster, and new weapons that expand your evolution options all add up to a meaningful content drop. For newcomers, start with the base game first - this DLC is fan service for people already converted to the church of auto-attack bullet heaven.
