The Executioner

The best thing here is the refusal to look away. Most RPGs about moral compromise fade to black before the ugly part; Lesser Evil Games puts the instruments in your hands, makes you pick one, and then makes you sit with a confession you may have manufactured. Evidence is genuinely ambiguous, the sanity meter ticks down as you push harder, and the branching outcomes are real branches rather than cosmetic dialogue flags. When it works, it lands closer to a tense tabletop scene than to a point-and-click. What it isn't is deep. This is a short game, and the interrogation loop shows its seams by the third suspect: you learn which pressure points the system rewards and the moral weight thins into optimization. Character writing is serviceable rather than quotable, and there's no build variety to speak of because there's no build. The Mixed reception makes sense to me. It's a strong idea executed at demo length, worth a sitting if dark, choice-heavy narrative is your thing, and worth skipping if you want an RPG with anything resembling a second act.
