About SEVEN: The Days Long Gone - Original Soundtrack
Let's be clear about what you are actually buying here: this is the digital soundtrack DLC for SEVEN: The Days Long Gone, the 2017 isometric stealth-RPG set in a post-apocalyptic science-fantasy world. It does not include the base game. What it does include is just under two hours of original music, spread across 41 tracks, composed by Marcin Przybylowicz (who served as music director on The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt), alongside contributions from Arkadiusz Reikowski and Jacek Paciorkowski, plus a standalone vocal track from Miracle of Sound. The instrumentation here is genuinely distinctive. The composers leaned on an unusual palette of live acoustic instruments, including things like the akkordolia, waldzither, baglama daki, stroh violin, and keyed zither, blended with more conventional strings and guitar. The result is a score that mirrors the game's own genre-blending identity: gritty and atmospheric where the world of the prison island of Peh demands it, propulsive and tense during infiltration sequences, occasionally haunting when the narrative weight lands. It suits the technofantasy tone of the source material, neither fully medieval nor fully synthetic. The soundtrack was nominated for Best Original Soundtrack Album at the 16th Annual Game Audio Network Guild Awards, which is not a throwaway credential. Who actually needs to buy this? Primarily fans who have already played SEVEN: The Days Long Gone and want the music as a standalone listen or for personal archiving. The score works well outside of the game context as background listening for writing, reading, or other long-focus tasks, which community listeners have noted. It clocks in at a respectable 1 hour and 50 minutes, so there is enough material here to justify a separate purchase if you loved the atmosphere of Peh and wanted more of it at your desk. If you have not played the game, the OST is not a meaningful entry point and you are better off starting with the Enhanced Edition, which includes the Drowned Past expansion and launched as a free update in 2019. The one honest caveat is that this product has no Steam review data and almost no commercial visibility, so you are buying somewhat on faith in the composer's pedigree and your own attachment to the source material. Przybylowicz's Witcher 3 work is a reasonable quality benchmark, and the instrumentation choices on this soundtrack are more adventurous than that, which is a point in its favor. But if you are on the fence, the score is available on streaming platforms, so you can audition it before committing. Monika, Scout Team
