My stronghold's ledger flagged an event I didn't recognize, and chasing it down dropped me somewhere colder and meaner than anything in the main campaign, which was my first real sign this add-on wasn't just cosmetic filler. This is a story and content expansion, not a standalone game: you need Pillars of Eternity installed and in progress for it to load at all. Obsidian's store listing spells out the exact new area, quests, and companion content bundled in here, and it slots into your existing save rather than starting you over. If you finished the base campaign and felt your build still had levels left to grow into, or you just want another excuse to keep running your current party, this is squarely for you. Casual players who bounced off the main game, or anyone hunting a quick genre sampler, can skip it outright, there's nothing here that stands on its own.
