Mutagenic
An ARPG build-crafting sandbox wearing a Survivor-like's controls, and the loadout depth is deeper than the twenty-minute runs suggest.
GamerScout Verdict
Worth it for ARPG theorycrafters who want deep build math without the 80-hour campaign, not for story hunters.

Every store in this table quotes us in euros, so the EUR figure is the price the seller actually set, not our arithmetic — which is why EUR is also the currency we rank in. We only list an offer here when the store gives us its price in euros, so nothing in this table is a number we invented.
Pick USD, PLN, GBP, CAD or AUD in the header and we convert from EUR at the European Central Bank reference rate — converted amounts are prefixed with ~. Your bank or the store may apply a different rate at checkout. We never hide offers based on where you are: everyone sees this whole table.
We may earn a commission when you buy games through links on this page — at no extra cost to you. It never affects our rankings or verdicts.

About Mutagenic
The build system is the whole reason to play this, and it holds up. Mutagenic drops full ARPG-grade character customization into a Survivor-style frame, so instead of picking from a handful of preset upgrade cards you are actually stacking mutations, scaling interactions, and hunting for the one synergy that turns a mediocre run into a screen-clearing monster. That is the loop. You auto-attack, you dodge, you make decisions between waves, and the interesting thinking all happens in the loadout rather than the twitch. For a small studio's release, the numbers underneath are surprisingly legible once you stop treating the upgrades as random and start reading them as a system. What it does not have is a story worth caring about, and I say that as someone who normally shows up for the writing. There is no arc, no worldbuilding to chew on, just mutations and monsters. The controller support is clean and the achievement list gives runs a spine, but if you need narrative payoff to stay engaged past hour ten, this is not that game. Come for the theorycrafting, stay if the numbers keep surprising you.
