Horizon Rush events, a new obstacle-course format, sit between festival ranks as skill gates, and the Collection Journal (a nod to Japanese stamp-collecting culture) gives explorers a reason to leave the road. Touge Battles add head-to-head mountain-pass duels that suit the JDM-heavy roster, while the shared open world integrates Time Attack Circuits and Drag Meets (three strips at launch, each with synchronized tree lights) without loading screens or matchmaking queues. It is a dense loop that rewards both completionists and casual cruisers. Critics praised the Japan setting and open-world design broadly, though several noted the main-story dialogue leans on the bland, positivity-at-all-costs tone the series has defaulted to for years. If you were hoping for the narrative weight of a proper RPG campaign, the writing will not surprise you in a good way. The Premium Upgrade key being sold here is an add-on, not the base game - you need Forza Horizon 6 (or an active Game Pass Ultimate / PC Game Pass subscription) separately.
