About Fortnite: Shadows Rising Pack (Xbox One)
I'll be straight with you: reviewing a cosmetic bundle for a free-to-play game is a different exercise than reviewing the game itself, and anyone landing on this page deserves to know exactly what they are getting before handing over their money. The Shadows Rising Pack is a cosmetics-only purchase for Fortnite on Xbox One and Xbox Series X. It does not add new game modes, ranked perks, or gameplay advantages. What it does add is a cohesive, all-black-and-white visual identity across seven items: the Shadow Skully outfit (with its paired Stark Satchel Back Bling), the Shadowbird outfit (with Shadowbird Wings Back Bling), the Perfect Shadow outfit (with Perfect Wings Back Bling), and the Array Wrap for your weapons and vehicles. The appeal here is simple. Fortnite's default item shop tends to run loud - bright colors, wild collaborations, skins that look like walking billboards. The Shadows Rising Pack sits at the opposite end of that spectrum. All three outfits share a dark, monochromatic Shadow Series look, originally introduced back in Season 9. If your squad rolls in wearing these, you look deliberate rather than chaotic, and in a game where visual read can matter in a split-second build fight, a clean aesthetic is not a nothing detail. The Shadowbird outfit is a dark rework of the older Sunbird design, and Shadow Skully remixes the fan-favourite Skully base. Fans of those originals will find the darker versions genuinely striking in motion. The honest caveat is that this pack ships with no V-Bucks, which puts it a tier below some starter packs that at least return part of your spend as in-game currency. You are paying purely for cosmetics, and cosmetics alone do not change how Fortnite plays. If you already own the Skully or Sunbird originals and were hoping for alternate styles unlocked through purchase, that is not how this works - these are separate outfits. The bundle has also rotated through the Item Shop over 300 times since release, so there is no urgency panic to apply here. You can be patient. For the right buyer - a committed Fortnite player on Xbox who gravitates toward sleek, dark aesthetics and wants to gear up three distinct outfits plus matching back blings and a weapon wrap in one shot - this pack punches above its weight compared to buying individual Shadow Series pieces separately. For casual or lapsed players checking back in after a long break, the money is probably better spent elsewhere until you know you are sticking around. Worth it as a bundle for dedicated Xbox regulars; a skip for everyone else. Riley, Scout Team
