About Eternal Edge +
Eternal Edge + is a casual action-adventure RPG built around a straightforward premise: Cross, a grizzled warrior, must find a way to pull his wife out of an eternal sleep, and the only path forward runs straight through the Skeleton King. That setup has the bones (pun intended) of a decent personal quest, but the game leans so hard into its casual identity that anyone hoping for a layered narrative or meaningful character work will leave disappointed. The story hits the broad beats you expect, then stops. Choices are thin, dialogue is functional at best, and the worldbuilding does not go much deeper than its setup implies. On the mechanical side, Eternal Edge + keeps things simple enough that genre newcomers can get comfortable fast. Combat is light and accessible, focused on basic weapon swings and item use rather than stamina management or deep skill trees. If you have spent time with more demanding action-RPGs, the combat loop will feel stripped down rather than refined. There is not much build variety to speak of, which means the game burns through whatever novelty it has relatively quickly. Veteran RPG players will likely hit the ceiling well before the credits roll. Where the game finds its footing is in low-stakes pick-up-and-play sessions. It is not trying to be Baldur's Gate. It is aiming at players who want a gentle adventure with a clear objective, modest challenge, and a digestible runtime. For that narrow audience, it mostly delivers. The visual presentation is colourful and inoffensive, and the skeleton-themed enemy roster has a certain charm. Filler is present, though not egregious given the overall length of the experience. The mixed Steam reception (sitting around 69 percent positive) tells an honest story. Players who approached it as a light, unpretentious time-passer often came away satisfied enough. Those who expected an actual RPG with meaningful progression, branching quests, or emotional payoff in Cross's relationship with his wife walked away shrugging. The wife herself, as a narrative device, is almost entirely absent as a character, which undercuts the emotional core the story is supposedly built on. That is the biggest missed opportunity here: a love-driven quest that never makes you feel the love. Eternal Edge + is for players who want a calm, low-pressure adventure and do not need the writing or systems to do heavy lifting. It is not for anyone who measures RPGs by replayability, narrative density, or build depth. Know which side of that line you are on before you click. Monika, Scout Team
