About EARTHLOCK: Festival of Magic - Hero Outfit Pack (DLC)
Let's be clear about what this is before anyone clicks buy: the Hero Outfit Pack is a small cosmetic DLC for EARTHLOCK: Festival of Magic, Snowcastle Games' old-school JRPG set on the tidally locked world of Umbra. You are not getting new story chapters, new dungeons, or new party members. What you are getting is six alternate character skins, one per party member, covering the full roster: Bandit Amon, Princess Ive, Shaman Gnart, Paladin PAT, Konkylian Olia, and Flamedog Taika. Each outfit comes packaged with an alternate origin talent that you can slot onto the talent board, which means there is at least a thin mechanical reason to care beyond aesthetics. The talent board is one of the more interesting systems in the base game. Rather than locking characters into fixed stat-up paths, it lets you route upgrades in different directions, which gives you modest build flexibility across a party that already has meaningful role differentiation through the dual-stance combat system. Swapping in an alternate origin talent from this pack does not dramatically reshape how any character plays, but if you are already deep enough into EARTHLOCK to be thinking about talent board optimization, the extra slot options are a small, welcome addition. Think of it as a minor footnote to the build variety, not a respec system. A word of warning that the Steam page surfaces and you should absolutely read: this DLC is only compatible with EARTHLOCK: Festival of Magic, the original version. If you own EARTHLOCK (the later, extended re-release), the Hero Pack skins are already included in that build. Buying this separately in that case gives you nothing new. That compatibility note is the single most important piece of information on this page, and it is easy to miss when browsing key resellers. For the base game context: EARTHLOCK: Festival of Magic is a mid-budget indie JRPG that wears its late-90s PS1-era influences openly. Its turn-based combat leans on a dual-stance mechanic where characters shift between roles mid-battle, ammunition management for ranged abilities, and a party bond system that rewards keeping specific characters together. The world of Umbra, a planet that stopped spinning and split into a scorched half and a frozen half, is a genuinely interesting setting that the writing never quite lives up to. The story gets the job done without embarrassing itself, the grind can spike hard in the back half, and the overall experience sits comfortably in the "solid, unpretentious JRPG" lane. If you love the base game and play primarily for the character designs, this pack gives you some fun alternate looks with the minor talent board bonus as a cherry on top. If you bounced off EARTHLOCK or only finished it once without touching the talent board deeply, there is nothing here that changes that calculus. Monika, Scout Team
