About Dead by Daylight: Chorus of Sin
The killer design is the best thing in this chapter, and the reason it lands is that it did not come out of a licensing meeting. Dead by Daylight has spent most of its life renting Hollywood's monsters, which is fun but comes with a ceiling: you already know the rules for a guy in a hockey mask. Chorus of Sin, released in August 2026, is the first chapter Behaviour built from a community submission, and it swaps the slasher-movie register for something closer to divine wrath. That is a genuinely different flavor of dread. An original killer has to earn its menace through silhouette, sound and the shape of its power instead of borrowing it from a film you watched at fourteen, and this one does enough of that to be worth loading into a lobby.
Everything wrapped around that killer is Dead by Daylight, unchanged. Four survivors, one killer, a map full of generators, and the most specific cat-and-mouse loop in multiplayer games. The whole sport is the chase: pallets, windows, tile geometry, reading whether the person ahead of you is going to loop or bail. Survivors repair and unhook, the killer patrols and pressures, and the entire thing lives or dies on whether both sides understand the same unwritten rules. The skill ceiling is genuinely high and mostly invisible from the outside, which is why new players bounce off it and thousand-hour players never leave. Chapters like this one are not side content you can skip, either, because the perks they add flow into the shared pool and quietly rewrite which builds are worth running for everyone in the queue. Crossplay keeps lobbies filled, controller support is solid, and Remote Play is there if you want to suffer on a tablet.
Then there is the score. Mixed, 41 percent positive across a few hundred reviews, and that number is doing a lot of talking. Some of it is not about this chapter at all. Dead by Daylight in 2026 is a live-service machine with a decade of accumulated systems, grind and balance arguments, and every new release becomes a referendum on all of it. But some of it is specific. Asking players who signed up for licensed horror icons to care about an original concept is a hard sell no matter how good the concept is, and community-created content carries an expectation gap that first-party chapters do not. The failure mode I would watch for is the familiar one: a power that feels oppressive while nobody knows the counterplay and toothless three weeks later once everyone does, plus perks that either warp the meta or vanish from it entirely. If you are already tired of the base game's grind, nothing here fixes that.

So who is this for. If you play Dead by Daylight regularly, this is not really a decision, it is a question of whether you want the new killer in your rotation and the new perks in your loadouts, and the answer is probably yes, because that is how this game works. If you have been away for a year, it is a reasonable excuse to come back but not a reason on its own. If you have never played, do not start here. Start with the base game, put twenty hours into it, find out whether you find the chase thrilling or exhausting, and decide then. That is the honest read on a 41 percent score: this is not a broken product, it is a strong idea bolted onto a game a lot of people have complicated feelings about.
What I keep coming back to is that the concept deserved a better landing than it got. There is a version of this chapter that becomes the argument for letting the community design more of the roster, and instead it turned into another line in a long-running fight about the state of the game. Both things can be true at once. The killer is cool. The wrapper is tired.
