Aggelos
A 16-bit action-RPG that respects the Wonder Boy formula while actually modernizing it, if you've been waiting for that specific game since 2018, Aggelos finally arrived.
GamerScout Verdict
Best for retro action-RPG fans who want mechanics-first design without the grind.

About Aggelos
I went in expecting pixel-art nostalgia bait and got something better: a genuinely well-paced action-adventure that knows exactly which old rules to keep and which to ditch. The dungeon layouts are tight, boss patterns reward pattern recognition over grinding, and the open world actually encourages exploration instead of padding it with fetch quests. Combat feels snappy, progression is steady, and the boss designs are the kind that stick with you. The trade-off is that Aggelos doesn't innovate beyond its template. If you're looking for character arcs or dialogue trees, you're playing the wrong game, this is pure mechanical satisfaction, 16-bit style. That said, for five-dollar indie action-RPGs, the execution is clean and the pacing respects your time. Worth a weekend if the aesthetic doesn't actively repel you.
