Elden Ring's $5 Tarnished Edition Has Players Testing Wild New Gear

According to PC Gamer, Elden Ring's newly released Tarnished Edition is a $5 DLC pack that adds new starting classes, armor sets, and horse armor. FromSoftware being FromSoftware, the new items were tucked away in unexpected spots, but the community has mostly tracked everything down now, including some minor additions that were never officially announced.

The runaway fan favorite so far is Leontiel's Greatsword, a weapon you steal from a new NPC who challenges you to a duel. It's a Dark Souls 2 character reference, and its standout move, called the Muleta skill, is straight-up matador style: your character waves a red cloth, sidesteps the enemy, and drives the blade into their back. Reddit user SaxSlaveGael immediately took it to Gaius from the Shadow of the Erdtree DLC since he's the game's closest thing to a bull, and the taunt-and-backstab combo worked exactly as dramatically as you'd hope. Another player, Ilamahradeys, used it to one-shot stagger the Full-Grown Fallingstar Beast on Mt. Gelmir, nearly wiping the health bar in a single jab. Not the most efficient strategy, but absolutely the most stylish.

On the fashion side, the chestpiece from the new Idus starting class is already a hit with the "fashion souls" crowd, its polished look blending well with other armor sets in the game. And for the players who care more about viability than vibes, at least one Reddit user has already blasted through a full run as the new heavy armor class, reporting that its boosted vigor and strength stats make it a slow starter that really opens up in the mid-to-late game.
