MegaRace 1+2

MegaRace 1 and 2 are pure arcade racing distilled into two releases from Microids. These aren't simulators. You're rocketing down exaggerated courses with a bombastic announcer, destructible environments, and rivals who exist mainly to get in your way. The first game set the tone with its 3D sprite-based tracks and chaotic energy; the sequel refines the formula but doesn't reinvent it. Both are straightforward point-to-point racers where winning means hitting the finish line first, not mastering brake points. If you came here for career progression or vehicle tuning, look elsewhere. If you want rapid-fire races with no pretense, they deliver that in spades. These are comfort-food racing games. They're not groundbreaking, but they're exactly what they promise: loud, fast, and built for quick runs rather than depth. Emulation and GOG preservation mean the originals are now playable without hunting down old discs. Worth a shot if retro arcade racing nostalgia hits the right nerve.
