The Light Keeps Us Safe

I went in expecting a survival-horror road trip and found something closer to a meditative driving sim with dread smeared on top. You navigate roads at night while light sources (headlights, streetlamps, your own vulnerability) dictate what's safe. The core loop is simple: drive, avoid threats, reach checkpoints. Atmosphere carries most of the weight here, and it does that job well, the minimalist presentation and sound design create genuine tension from what you can't fully see. The catch is that mechanically it's pretty light. Once you've grasped the light-as-safety rule, there's not much complexity underneath. No real customization, minimal story hooks, and the driving itself feels utilitarian rather than tactile. It works as a short, focused experience (expect 2-3 hours), and fans of games that prioritize mood over systems will find something worthwhile. Everyone else should manage expectations.
