The Last Tinker: City of Colors
A 2014 action-adventure about painting the world back to life, built by a studio that would later nail tactical strategy, if you're drawn to hand-crafted indie charm and don't mind a slow pace.
GamerScout Verdict
Charming underdog debut for patient players who value mood and craft over pacing, a slow burn that knows what it wants to say.

About The Last Tinker: City of Colors
I spent the opening hours of The Last Tinker watching Koru, a scrappy kid from the slums, bash enemies and solve puzzles across a desaturated world. The core conceit, restoring color (and emotion) to Colortown by switching between four emotional states that unlock different abilities, is genuinely inventive. Combat never becomes demanding, but it's rhythmic and intentional, paired with a storybook art style that still holds up. The soundtrack sits somewhere between wistful and whimsical, the kind of small-budget soundscape that lingers after you stop playing. What doesn't work is pacing. The game meanders; tutorials stretch, dialogue clips along at its own tempo, and you'll spend stretches just moving between objectives. That's not a flaw if you're comfortable with games that refuse to rush you, but it's worth knowing upfront. Mimimi Games was still finding its voice here, later they'd become known for precise, punishing tactics games. The Last Tinker is their earnest debut: imperfect, occasionally slow, but made with genuine affection for a small story about joy versus bleakness.
