SimCity 3000 Unlimited is the expanded edition of the 1999 original, and it's pure old-school municipal management. You zone residential, commercial, and industrial sectors, balance budgets, manage traffic and utilities, and watch your city grow or crumble based on decisions made five in-game years ago. The isometric graphics are charming in a pixel-art way, and the depth of systems is legit - you're juggling pollution, crime, education, and disaster preparedness while keeping taxpayers happy. If you've played newer city sims (Cities: Skylines, Tropico), expect a slower, less forgiving experience. The UI is clunky by today's standards, tutorials are minimal, and you'll restart often while learning what works. But if you want a low-stakes, contemplative building game that respects your intelligence and rewards patience, this scratches that itch. It's a museum piece that still functions.
