Potterheads hoping for a faithful adaptation of the darkest book in the series will find a cover-based shooter with a Hogwarts skin slapped on it. Worth knowing before you spend a penny.

I went into this one with low expectations for a 2010 movie tie-in, and it still managed to disappoint. EA Bright Light took the grimly serious, on-the-run final chapter of the Harry Potter story and turned it into a third-person cover shooter - a genre decision that, on paper, is not completely insane. The book has Harry, Ron, and Hermione fleeing across England, dodging Death Eaters and Snatchers. Combat is the whole point. So why does it feel so empty? The core problem is that the cover mechanic, the thing the entire combat loop is built around, barely works. You will stick to the wrong side of objects, clip through geometry, and frequently wonder whether crouching behind a rock is actually doing anything. Spells like Stupefy and Expulso handle the "bullets," and there is a small selection of potions tucked into the world for optional combat buffs. Harry's Invisibility Cloak shows up for occasional stealth sections that are, genuinely, the most interesting moments in the game - quiet, tense, and at least vaguely true to the source material. Those sequences are brief respite from the otherwise relentless waves of identical enemies. The structure makes things worse. Progress in the single-player campaign is gated behind mandatory challenge sets - short combat trials completely disconnected from the story that exist purely as padding. There is no exploration, no puzzle-solving, none of the Hogwarts-flavored busywork that made earlier entries in the series charming in their own clunky way. The narrative barely exists: key story beats play out in short cutscenes before the game shoves you back into another corridor full of Death Eaters. The voice acting is rough, character models are a step down from what the hardware could manage in 2010, and the world feels like a backdrop rather than a place. Who is this for, then? Younger or more casual players who just want to spend time in the Wizarding World and do not care much about mechanical depth might squeeze some enjoyment out of it. Hardcore Potter fans might appreciate the darker tone - this is the first entry in the series set entirely outside of Hogwarts, which at least reflects the book's fugitive mood. But anyone coming in hoping for the open-exploration feel of the earlier EA entries, or a shooter with actual bones, will find the package thin. Critics at the time largely agreed: the tone was credited, and almost everything else was not. As a piece of gaming history or a nostalgia buy for someone who played it at age twelve, the appeal is understandable. As a recommendation to a player asking "is this worth it right now" - the honest answer is that the Invisibility Cloak sections cannot carry a whole game. Alex, Scout Team

Veredicto de GamerScout

Hard to recommend except as nostalgia - the stealth sequences show what could have been, but repetitive combat and broken cover mechanics define the rest.
