On the management side, the expansion adds three new dinosaur species: the Stygimoloch, the Allosaurus, and the updated Brachiosaurus variant tied to the film. Each brings slightly different behavioral profiles and enclosure requirements, which means your habitat planning spreadsheet needs a few new rows. The Stygimoloch in particular is a headache to contain at low-rating parks, which is exactly the kind of friction that makes the mid-game interesting. You will also deal with rescue logistics - transferring animals under time constraints adds a resource-pressure layer that the base sandbox rarely imposes this cleanly. What works here is the pacing. The three-island progression of Claire's Sanctuary feels tighter than the base game's five-island career, and the volcanic deadline mechanic stops you from over-optimizing indefinitely. That said, the AI ranger and response team behavior remains the same as the base game - competent enough, but not something you will brag about. The scenario does not introduce new threat types beyond what the base game already offers, so veterans may find the challenge ceiling modest. The DLC leans on story atmosphere and species novelty rather than mechanical depth, which is a reasonable trade for its length. For strategy-minded players who already logged significant hours in the main campaign, this is a solid afternoon-to-weekend addition. The tighter structure makes it a reasonable entry point for players who struggled to self-motivate in the open sandbox, because the eruption timer does the goal-setting for you. Mod support for the base game carries over here too, so if you are running cosmetic or balance mods they will generally play nice with the new content.
