Dead by Daylight: Maddening Darkness is a cosmetic and character bundle DLC for the asymmetric multiplayer horror game Dead by Daylight. It pulls eight playable characters from four older chapters - Of Flesh And Mud, Spark Of Madness, Curtain Call, and Shattered Bloodline - and packages them together for players who missed those releases the first time around. If you already own those chapters, there is nothing here for you. Full stop. For anyone returning to Dead by Daylight after a long break, or picking up the base game for the first time and trying to fill out their roster without hunting down individual chapter purchases, this is a straightforward way to get a decent slice of the game's history. The characters from these chapters include some fan favourites with distinct playstyles - killers with unique chase mechanics and survivors with perks that still see regular use in builds. That practical perk value is the real reason experienced players ever care about older character DLC. What you are not getting here is new content in any meaningful sense. There are no new maps, no new game modes, no story material. Dead by Daylight's core loop - five-player hide-and-seek where one killer hunts four survivors scrambling to repair generators - remains exactly what it was. If that loop has worn thin for you, a character bundle is not the thing to revive it. The game lives or dies on its community size and the balance state of its constantly updated roster, and a compilation pack does nothing to address either of those. The honest pitch is this: Maddening Darkness is a value-angle purchase for players who are actively enjoying the base game and want more roster depth without buying each old chapter separately.
