Dead by Daylight's most-requested killer has finally arrived, and his kit is genuinely unsettling to play against - worth the wait for DbD veterans and horror fans alike.

I've followed Dead by Daylight long enough to remember every community post demanding Jason Voorhees enter the Fog, so arriving at Chapter 40 after a decade of the game's life carries real weight. This is a DLC killer purchase, not a standalone game - you need the base Dead by Daylight to use it - but for what it costs, the design work behind The Slasher is some of the more interesting killer-building Behaviour Interactive has done in years. Jason's kit is built around two interlocking powers. Omnipresent Evil turns him fully invisible, strips his terror radius, and pumps up his movement speed, but trades away standard survivor tracking for footprint and mist-cloud cues. Survivors who crouch-walk go completely dark, which means the ability has a real counter rather than being a free win button. The second power, Improvised Carnage, lets him scoop up scrap from containers scattered across the map - broken generator parts, pallet fragments, hook pieces - and hurl them at survivors. It is a ranged option that feels thematically right on a killer who has always been associated with inventive, environment-driven kills. The two powers work together in a specific rhythm: go invisible, read the map, reappear via a Jump Scare at a pallet or vault point to cut off the loop, then punish with thrown debris if they break away. Players who treat him like a straightforward stealth killer will have a rough time. His perks - Hex: Scared to Death, Silent Shadow, and Rampage - slot neatly into that chase-disruption identity, with Rampage in particular turning survivor stuns and flashlight blinds into a speed burst rather than a dead stop. Behaviour tweaked the kit between PTB and live launch in ways that matter. The husk attack received a slight delay, and the anti-camp multiplier was bumped up to discourage parking near hooks. The live version is less gimmicky and more strategic than early PTB footage suggested. Community reception landed at Very Positive on Steam, which for a DbD DLC in the first weeks post-launch typically means the killer feels fair-to-strong rather than immediately broken - a harder target to hit than it sounds. The cosmetic suite is generous: alongside the default hockey mask look, the Death Forsaken and Depths of Despair outfits offer genuinely different visual reads on the character. Who is this for? Existing DbD players who want a high-skill-ceiling stealth killer with a positional puzzle at its core will get the most out of Jason. He rewards map awareness and pallet economy knowledge over raw aggression. Survivors unfamiliar with fighting invisible killers will find the learning curve steep, which is worth flagging if you primarily play the survivor side. Friday the 13th fans who have waited years for an official licensed version of Voorhees in any game will find the presentation faithful - the hockey mask is worn and weathered, the kills are brutal, and the foggy trial atmosphere does the character justice. If you bounce off DbD's existing stealth killers like The Wraith or The Spirit, Jason won't convert you. But if those are already your comfort picks, his version of the same idea is denser and more rewarding. Alex, Scout Team
