Cossacks II is a throwback RTS where you're managing hundreds of units across open maps without the typical resource-juggling overhead. GSC Game World ditched the sci-fi angle here and went all-in on period warfare: musketeer formations, cavalry charges, siege equipment. If you've played the original or other early-2000s RTS titles, the pacing and unit AI will feel familiar but creaky by modern standards. Large multiplayer skirmishes are the draw, though the UI and pathfinding show their age. This is strictly for players hunting a specific flavor of old-school strategy that doesn't exist anymore. Solo campaigns are functional but thin. The Anthology bundle likely includes expansions, which add campaign content and unit variety, but don't expect a streamlined modern experience.
